Boing/Lockhead had that huge competition about who'd win this ridicilously large contract. Every branch of the US military would buy many of those universal fighters!
Lockhead won - but right afterwards it was decided to order less of those planes.
Instead more drones would be bought by the US. Who builds those? Well, Boing is the largest supplier. Who might have guessed?

Alles was hoch geht, kommt auch wieder runter - das gilt sowohl für getroffene Drohnen als auch Schüsse die daneben gehen
Und selbst ein Treffer muss nicht zwingend zum Abschuss führen.
Dazu kommt die Frage wie leicht die Drohne zu treffen ist…
FPV-Drohnen sind mit die agilsten Dinge überhaupt. Die brettern locker mit 150+km/h durch die Luft und ziehen Kehren mit G-Kräften bei denen ein Pilot längst bewusstlos würde.
Stabile Kamera-Drohnen hingegen hängen gerne auch mal nen Kilometer entfernt in der Luft. Das trifft Otto Normal nicht.
Erstere kosten so 100-500€ das Stück und letztere auch nur im niedrigen, vierstelligen Bereich. Schieß eine ab und du hast dir mehr Kosten an Papierkram erzeugt als der Gegenseite an Hardwarekosten.
