I want a whole series of Cordelia Naismith adventures, dammit.
@indubitablyodin TBH I'm pretty sure (going by the duration of the Penric series) that Lois has finished with that world for good. She published Vorkosigan saga stories/books from 1986 through 2018—a 34 year run. She was 37 when she began it and she's now more than twice as old: can you maybe forgive her for not being wanting to write the same stories as half a lifetime ago? Authors change!
@cstross
I think you misread my tone here and have maybe made some assumptions?
@indubitablyodin Very probably!
(I'm finishing a series *I've* been writing for 27-28 years ATM, and the constant "just one more!" I keep getting stings.)
@dat @indubitablyodin More fanfic is always good. (And I think there's a ton of Vorkosigan fanfic on AO3 …?)
Thanks for rethinking! Definitely more of an expression of "I love this character a lot," not "The writer should do better."
But I'm sorry to hear that the fan pressure has gotten uncomfortable, too. 😔 I imagine it must feel a little strange to have so many demands coming from strangers. I think about that with Pat's Doors of Stone, too. I'm psyched as the next guy to read it but... Hey, art is art. Humans are humans. We can all stand to chill a little.
