Typ mit viel Meinung.

Nicht interessiert, aber das auf hohem Niveau.

Ich bin ja kein Nazi, aber... ...ich wohne trotzdem gerne in #Dresden.

Fortgeschrittener Anwender technologischer Genervtheit!

I walk through Mindfields!

But what if you're an environmentally conscious mother who needs to drive the 5 minute walk to your kids' school? Surely, a modern car must be less polluting?

Again, dear reader, you are wrong.

CO2 emissions/km:

C15: 151.5 g/km
Ranger: 178 g/km
Discovery: 397 g/km⬇

I've grown a full beard, given my checked shirts to charity and stopped wearing blue jeans. My wife thinks it's a mid life crisis. It's not. It's because people keep saying I look like Lester Crest from GTA5 and I hate to admit it but, They're right I do.

@Herman @pluralistic If still not convinced, maintain for a year while responding to bug reports and adding a few requested features.

@pluralistic 🎯The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Just “vibe code” a non trivial application and monitor the time you need to get your application *reliably* working. You will be AI coding cured for the rest of your career.

Bosses *do not know* that code is a liability, not an asset. That's why they won't shut the fuck up about the chatbots that shit out 10,000 times more code than any human programmer. They think they've found a machine that produces *assets* at 10,000 times the rate of a human programmer. They haven't. They've found a machine that produces *liability* at 10,000 times the rate of any human programmer.

Code is a liability (not an asset). Tech bosses don't understand this. They think AI is great because it produces 10,000 times more code but that means it's producing 10,000 more liabilities. AI is the asbestos we're shoveling into the walls of our high-tech society:

A shredder, shredding a giant US$100 bill. Benjamin Franklin's head has been replaced with a cliched 'hacker in a hoodie' illustration. The machine's faceplate bears the Claude Code wordmark. The background is the hostile red eye of HAL 9000 from Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey.'

We're 12 years away from the Y2038 problem, when 32-bit flavors of Unix will all cease to work, because they, too, will have run out of computable seconds. These computers haven't changed, their software hasn't changed, but the world - by dint of ticking over, a second at a time, for 68 years - will wear through their seams, and they will rupture:

Enno Bunger - Renn!

You need a lot of human resources to keep the economy going. That alone makes settlements on Mars impossible since even a fully terraformed Mars with a breatheable atmosphere and some kind of biosphere will never be able to support more than a few million humans, yet a complex civilisation needs at least tens of millions, a high-tech civilisation, hundreds of millions. If via AI and robotics, one single engineer could really replace hundreds or even thousands of workers, the situation would be much different. In a world where AI actually works as promised by science fiction stories, a few hundred thousand workers might be enough for a real autonomous civilisation.

That's also why the techbros are not afraid of the collapse because they think they don't need as many people on this planet, anyway, and if things go sideways, they can just live in their bunkers with their robot servants. Idiots, all of them. This is what happens to your brain when you are far too rich for far too long -- you begin to believe that you are god because your money insulates you against the consequences of your own actions.

If you’re upset and trying to guilt people of color for rightfully pointing out that nobody gave a shit until it happened to a white lady, maybe sit down and shut the fuck up

Once again I am reminded of this

A drawing of a woman holding a protest sign. (Copied from a real image taken at a previous protest) the sign reads 'cops aren't supposed to kill guilty people either'. A reminder that regardless of how nice a person is or isn't, law enforcement is not there to shoot people.
