Pfff! We 80s kids ran whole DSL routers in the early 2000s on old Pentium 1 machines with two NICs from a single floppy using fli4l. Nobody knew what a router was at the time and providers prohibited you in their terms from offering a single internet connection to more than one computer - at least on paper. Good times!
