(On last boost) Also, if you hear any suggested solution to anything which begins "Why not just" or some variant of it, that's your guaranteed sign that they haven't thought it through properly.

@dysfun I will never forget, from several years ago, a PhD student of mine setting up a talk about a problem with compilation of dependent types if you did it naively, when an early question was "Why not just not compile naively?"
