further: please use special chars, but not TOO special?
IDK about whether you could use ö/ä/ß/ë/Ÿ? probably not?
And Zero-width-Spaces? Better don't even try!
And don't get me started on the question if they store my last 5 passwords in plaintext?

Don't know what's your problem. They allow way more special characters than many other sides. I often had troubles using the Bitwarden generator because it dares to include &, #, and + as special characters! And there are so many sites about which only allow 14 characters...
Also, of course the passwords are stored as plain text or with a simple encryption (not hashed), because, how else to send the user the password after they entered their mother's maiden name?

I know ...
A company I know also stored passwords encrypted (i.e. readable if you knew the encryption key) for quite a while, because "there are lists on the internet to get passwords from hashes, so this would be even less save". Yeah, if you never heard about salts or the password is "123456"...
