And here we are, with our own Orange Julius.

Tweet from 'Matt Stoller' reads, "I wonder if the fall of Rome was this stupid."

@georgetakei And Elon is Brutus? …

@georgetakei I don't recall in any history books when Romulus Augustulus, the last Roman emperor, deciding that it's greatest trading partners, Egypt, Phoenicia, Persia, Greece, Hispania, and Gaul were suddenly "ripping them off for decades" and the Huns, Visigoths, and the barbarian hordes were now gonna be Rome's 'BBF's....

pretty sure how germany started into WW2 was similar stupid

@andreas_heitmann @georgetakei

No... Elon is Shitus Maximus.

@georgetakei Orange Julius 🤣

@georgetakei Must have been cause there wasn't any documentation left afterwards. Maybe there was nobody to write it.

@georgetakei The fall of the Roman empire took centuries, not weeks.
So no, it wasn't so stupid.

@georgetakei That's one way to ruin my 90s mall drink memories. 8-(

@georgetakei

That’s an interesting question. I would suppose the Romans at the time had the same sort of confusion and disbelief we have now.

Also, the term “Orange Julius” is inspired!

@georgetakei I’m pretty sure their will be a PhD thesis entitled “The collapse of the American Empire: How a country shot itself in the head over the price of eggs”

@georgetakei Probably not, but that's hard to judge, since we only have antique sources. However, what we know for certain, is that the Roman Empire didn't fall over night but slowly declined over centuries. The United States appear to have chosen a much more "efficient" process.

@georgetakei More like Nero I would say. We know how that ended...

@georgetakei these comparisons to Caesar are unfair. Trump would have nothing to do with a salad.

@georgetakei

Orange Foolius…

@georgetakei

They used LEAD for everything so Yeah, probably it was this stupid!

@georgetakei
Is Matt aware Caesar made his horse a senator?

So, the answer is "Yes".

@georgetakei

Orange Julius is one of the names I've been calling him for years, but from now on it is definitely Orange Julius Caesar.

@georgetakei and juset missed ides
