Along the Watchtower

Lyroe, County Cork, Éire
🧭51°27'15" N 9°45'34" W

A dilapidated watch tower sits over the sea. The shingles are slowly leaving its crumbling foundation and walls. It is surrounded by long, coarse grass. A woman is walking away towards two more aging structures. The overcast skies meet calm waters at the horizon.

One from early May on a beautiful evening.

The sky is lit up with gold pink, orange and purple as tge sun sets behind a big old Sycamore tree which is in black sillhouette. It's in N Wales and the sheep were calling their lambs and the air smelt of cut grass and sheep pooh!

"some people act like they never seen a woodpecker peck wood before..."-- vaguely huffy Cinnamon Woodpecker male

i am still adding photos to my Panama Flickr album here https://www.flickr.com/photos/98553536@N03/albums/72177720325748911

A beautiful woodpecker with a cinnamon face, crest and wings, paired with scalloped cream and black underparts. The woodpecker's pale bill is hammering at a not terribly thick branch also being clutched by woodpecker's claws. The brilliant red throat and moustache mark reveals that this is the male Cinnamon Woodpecker. Canopy Tower. Panama. April 2025. Photo by Peachfront
