Hilversum Town Hall (architectural details)

A symmetrical view looking up at eight lighting fixtures at the Hilversum Town Hall, designed by architect Willem Marinus Dudok. There are four horizontal elements on each side. Each element has a long, rectangular light fixture running along its underside, casting a warm glow.

There’s something so intimate about a garden. Something quietly revealing. The styles, the care, the preferences, the planning. What’s left wild. What’s clipped back.

I'm doing a wee photo series (just for myself). The glimpses of gardens you see from across the street, in between buldings, at the end of a long path, between fences and hedges.

Here's a few of my recent favourites.

A blue-painted shed wall with a mounted tyre casting a strong geometric shadow. Beside it, a weathered glass greenhouse filled with tools and baskets, bathed in late-afternoon sunlight A winding garden path leads through densely planted borders of spring flowers, with tall hedges and bare trees framing the view toward a hazy rural landscape An old wooden garden shed sits on a lawn in front of a cottage, with a patch of bluebells blooming in the foreground and laundry hanging to the left. A neatly trimmed hedge with a small niche carved into it, sheltering a stone statue of a woman. Tulips and pink flowers bloom at the hedge base beside a pebbled path.

🌊✨ Discover the magic of the Madonna of Punta in Bonassola! This pink church overlooking the sea offers breathtaking views and a unique atmosphere of peace. Perfect for a 20-minute walk between green and blue, ideal at sunset! 🧡

5⭐ Lower Antelope Canyon, Page AZ
https://www.trailspotting.com/2023/03/lower-antelope-canyon-page-az.html
Possibly the most popular slot canyon in the United States, the spectacular Antelope Canyon is located 90 minutes from the South rim of the Grand Canyon and close to the town of Page, Arizona.

A slot canyon with smooth, curving walls in deep reddish-brown hues. Light from the open sky above filters down, illuminating the intricate patterns formed by erosion. Two people stand inside—one capturing a photo of the other—framing the natural beauty of the canyon. The scene highlights the dramatic contrast between shadowed rock formations and bright sunlight above, emphasizing the canyon's depth and textures.

Spring is here, time to get busy.

Quiet morning in Heidelberg...

We have a lot of travel this spring, so much so that time home in Heidelberg feels extra special.

Today I walk through altstadt going to my favorite French bakery, then sketched and read in my favorite cafe.

Sometimes the quiet moments are the most special.

Hauptstrasse in Heidelberg. The cobbled pedestrian street is lined with Baroque pastel houses. A sandstone church a half a block away has a rounded spire that stretches into a cotton candy colored sky.
