'Im Wald' 'In the forest'
Ah I thought about this immediately when I saw today's motto 🙂. I admit that I don't see in the very often - but this time I was just super lucky to witness this scene!

The blogpost for it:https://www.franzgraf.de/blog/2024/highlights-from-our-bavarian-forest-getaway-last-autumn/

The image depicts a serene scene in a forest, with the sun shining through the trees casting a warm glow. The forest is enveloped in fog, adding a mystical and ethereal quality to the landscape. The dominant colors in the image are black and grey, with accents of a warm brown hue. A tree is prominently featured in the foreground, with yellow leaves adding a pop of color to the otherwise muted palette. The overall atmosphere is one of tranquility and peace, making it a perfect representation of a misty autumn day in a northern hardwood forest.

@redsad campfire is an upgrade from dumpster fire right?

Reminded today of how I used to make pictures before I could afford a decent camera. A recent photographic capture of St Mary's Island at Whitley Bay in North East England and a pen and ink drawing I executed back in 1978.
It was probably around that time I bought a Praktica MTL 35mm SLR camera and I really fell in love with taking photographs, processing the film and printing the images in the darkroom.

Today, I enjoy nothing better than being out and about with my camera. This is St Mary's Island, a well known iconic local landmark just up the coast from where I live in North East England. Back in the day (1978) a pen and ink rendition I executed of St Mary's Island, off the coast at Whitley Bay. Nothing much has changed, apart from the telegraph pole.

I wonder how long it’ll take to wear these down

A mountain is silhouetted at sunset, the last of the dying light paling the sky to white just right of centre, and turning the bellies of the steel grey clouds above to rose and lavender. Below, a still lake reflects back the sky and mountain as though in a nearly perfect mirror.

I swear I don't even like daffodils, they are just hardy as fuck and somehow keep sticking around. And what can I do when the light hits that one *just so*

closeup of a yellow daffodil flower lit by morning sun from the right side, in front of a dark background on the right and light background on the left side of the image closeup of a yellow daffodil flower lit by morning sun from the right side, seen front on emphasizing its symmetry, in front of an out of focus black and light blue background a daffodil flower seen in profile hit by morning sun from the right, outside, in front of a dark brown and black out of focus background

I had plans for 1000th toot. I missed that. I also didn’t notice when I got more followers than my 2+ years old Twitter account. Took me less than 3 months to achieve that here. And it happened to be most diverse community I ever imagined. They say this platform is dead but look around! (1/2)

My new portfolio featuring Torridon and Applecross in the Scottish Highlands is now live! https://www.iancylkowski.com/the-scottish-highlands/torridon-applecross 👍

These photos taken all the way back in October 2016, when I was still using a Nikon D7000. I've only ever been to this part of the Scottish Highlands once, and I YEARN to go back again.

A serene highland scene showing a small, multi-tiered waterfall cascading over dark, rocky steps in bright sunlight, with a steep, grass-covered mountain rising behind it and a clear blue sky above, creating a striking contrast between the rushing white water in the foreground and the golden-lit slopes of the Applecross Peninsula in the distance. A tranquil Highland scene with large, weathered boulders in the foreground bearing patches of moss and lichen, leading to the mirror-like surface of Loch Clair reflecting the imposing peak of Liathach rising beneath a bright blue sky, with the surrounding slopes tinged in muted autumnal shades that accentuate the stillness of the water. A sweeping view from a grassy shoreline dotted with large, weathered rocks and a lone, wind-bent tree in the foreground, leading across the still waters of Loch Maree towards the imposing silhouette of Slioch, its rugged slopes rising against a muted sky, with the surrounding landscape tinged with warm, rusty hues that reflect the raw beauty of the Scottish Highlands. A dramatic mountain vista captured from a high ridge, with steep cliffs plunging into a broad, winding valley below where two small lochans nestle among golden-brown moorland and rugged slopes, all framed by a hazy, layered backdrop of distant peaks under a subdued, overcast sky.

This was our first fire burning brush of the year.

A fire with a bright central region with a large stick running through it with branches going out in different directions and a plume of illuminated smoke. Lights on houses across the creek are visible in a dark expanse above the fire with a patch of dark blue sky visible through the trees to the upper left.
