It's almost my 2 year anniversary of posting spotted observations of life in Aotearoa New Zealand, so I thought it would be fun for today's post to be the one that kicked it all off. It might explain why we immediately fell in love with this awesome little city that we now call home.❤️🌺
Here we go:
#Spotted Before Christmas 2023 in a Small City in Aotearoa New Zealand:
A woman (80s?) is drawing willies wearing Santa hats on the walls of a public loo. She's emphatically explaining that they: "represent life's funny little ways".
In a garden centre: A sweaty looking man (50s?) bellows: "Darl, you like flowery shit, right?" into his phone, at presumably the love of his life.
Her profanity is audible and delightful for onlookers.
A woman (20s?) is standing in the cheese section of a supermarket, obviously completely overwhelmed.
A sales assistant comes up, puts a hand on her shoulder and says: "It's all gonna be okay, love. In five days it'll all just be indigestion. You'll do fine."
A dad (40s?) is giving his small human (5?) a very serious lecture about the importance of getting his mum the perfect watering can.
Two brothers (14 & 16?) are having a whisper-argument over whether or not the younger one is a "dick" for wanting to get their mum a boxing game for Christmas (That he totally wanted to play.) They compromise on soap by the time they get to checkout.

Ja. Aber eben auch alles andere. Warnungen werden ignoriert, man scheitert grandios, beim Debugging tauchen für jeden gefixten Fehler 3 neue auf, und wenn's dann doch irgendwann läuft, findet irgendein User die Lücke, mit der die Anwendung crasht (oder mindestens Unsinn liefert).
Dass der Code wie Augias Stall aussieht, ist selbstverständlich, aber für Herakles ist keine Zeit.

Bis zum Krieg bildeten in vielen deutschen Konzentrationslagern sogenannte "Arbeitsscheue" die größte Gruppe. Bereits eine der ersten großen Verhaftungsaktionen, die den frühen „wilden“ Konzentrationslagern Insassen besorgte, war die sogenannte "Bettlerrazzia" 1933.
Noch bevor die Novemberpogrome die Inhaftierung von Jüdinnen und Juden nur wegen ihres Status als Jüdinnen und Juden im großen Stil einläuteten, wurden 1938 über 10.000 Männer verhaftet und in Konzentrationslagern der Vernichtung durch Arbeit zugeführt.
Definiert waren die von der Gestapo zu verhaftenden „Arbeitsscheuen“ damals als „Männer im arbeitsfähigen Alter, die zweimal einen ihnen angebotenen Arbeitsplatz abgelehnt oder nach kurzer Zeit aufgegeben hätten“. (siehe https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aktion_%E2%80%9EArbeitsscheu_Reich%E2%80%9C)

Die schwarz-rote Koalition möchte den Wolf heute ins #Jagdrecht aufnehmen. Der Druck ist groß: 2024 wurden etwa 4300 von Wölfen gerissene Weidetiere gemeldet. Doch gibt es mittlerweile so viele Wölfe in Deutschland, dass ein strenger Schutz nicht länger gerechtfertigt ist? Naturschutzverbände zweifeln, die Zahl der Wolfsrudel war zuletzt rückläufig.

Spoke to a former colleague recently. Their employer monitors employee AI use and wants to see number go up.
Since the obligatory AI nannying, multiple product teams have fallen apart and they’ve stopped delivering new features of value while users are leaving.
A whole layer of middle management are destroying good products to make a Potemkin village of fake automation to justify their bosses buying crap enterprise software. It’s as if the entire industry had their heads kicked in by a donkey.
