Looking down on the iconic Heceta Head Lighthouse along the Oregon coast — a timeless beacon standing watch above the crashing waves. 🌊✹

An elevated view of Heceta Head Lighthouse on the Oregon coast, surrounded by rugged cliffs and mist rising from the Pacific Ocean under soft, diffused light.

Tja.

waited my whole life for this shot.

The blue, starry night sky, striped by the vertical rise of the Milky Way, rises above a snow-capped mountain range, sloping gently up from left, to a range, then back down again just right of centre and back up again to a taller mountain. Below, a still, deep lake reflects back the sky and mountains and flanking forest as in a mirror.

Eeeep! We feel the terror on this kid's face.

every 3-4 years when they are cleaning it the authorities allow visitors into the waterworks.
They are pretty fussy about security (I guess rightly so) but they do allow pictures.

@gretebrug ein Kranichleuchthimmel fĂŒr dich

I'm planning to bring to and try to bring some more attention to it (and to in general). I will definitely develop film for people who want to see the machine in action (black-and-white for sure, color if enough people want it). I will also bring some bulk film to roll and a couple of cameras for interested people to try.
Now I need advice from people more experienced with visiting : what else should I do? Should I make a lecture out of it? Lightning talk? Not sure what to talk about. About how I developed the machine? How it works? Why an film developing processor is needed in 2025? Auf meinem gebrochenen Deutsch oder auf Englisch? Halp!

Holly Beach, Louisiana

I might have shared this image recently, but that’s perfectly fine—I wanted to clean it up a bit, though the changes are subtle. Standing there, gazing down the coastline, was incredibly relaxing. I’ve visited this beach a few times, and this might be the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen during one of my trips.

"Holly Beach in Louisiana unfolds like a tranquil canvas of land, water, and sky. The vast shoreline is composed of soft, golden sand, rippling gently beneath shallow pools that shimmer under the open sky. The tide rolls in with hushed whispers, waves cresting before they dissolve into foamy traces on the shore. A cluster of seagulls, ever-watchful, stands gathered on the wet sand—some poised elegantly while others nestle into the earth, their white and gray feathers blending seamlessly with the surroundings.

In the background, a few figures stroll leisurely, silhouetted against the sea’s expanse, moving with an unhurried grace that mirrors the rhythm of the waves. Fishing poles stand like sentinels near the water’s edge, hinting at a quiet pastime as the ocean stretches far into the horizon. Above, the sky transitions from a soft, pale blue to a gentle blush of pink, casting a delicate glow that suggests either the waking hush of dawn or the dreamy descent of evening. Every element—the salty breeze, the rhythmic call of the gulls, and the golden reflection of the sun—whispers of nature’s quiet beauty, inviting visitors into its peaceful embrace." - Copilot
